Taster Sessions

These are held at our shooting ground at Batheaston.

Open taster sessions are held every 3rd Saturday throughout the year. They are suitable for anyone over the age of 12 (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if 16 or under). Open taster sessions last 2 hours and cost £15 per person for the first four people and £10 for each extra person (when booked as a group), and includes tea/coffee, equipment and tuition. For more information please email lessons@batharchers.org.uk.

Private taster sessions are suitable for individuals or groups of up to 24 people and can be tailored to your needs. Suitable for anyone over the age of 12 (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if 16 or under) they are ideal for a person or group wishing to spend a couple of hours trying the sport, and make great small corporate events or gifts. A typical taster session lasts 2 hours and costs £15 per person for the first four people and £10 for each extra person, and includes tea/coffee, equipment and tuition. As with Have-a-Go’s members give up their own time to run these sessions so, whilst we will try to put together a team of volunteers we cannot guarantee to do so, and the more notice you can give (ideally 6 weeks) the more likely it is that we will be able to help. For more information please email lessons@batharchers.org.uk.

Beginner Lessons

Archery is a sport, not a game and can be dangerous to you and to others if not done correctly so you must be trained to take part (even experienced archers wishing to join the club are assessed by an experienced club member). From this August we are running training courses on demand on most Saturday afternoons until October. The course (which must be pre-booked and paid for – you cannot just turn up on the day) costs £55 and consists of six lessons over a maximum of 8 weeks. Each lesson is 2 hours long and starts at 2pm (you need to be at the ground by 1.30pm) and all equipment is provided. Training is outdoors and take place in all weathers. Our courses are very popular and are allocated on a first-come basis. To apply, please email lessons@batharchers.org.uk, including your address and telephone number and the date you would like to start, and we will contact you with details. If you are unsure whether Archery is for you, why not book a 2 hour taster session first?

Please note that there is normally a minimum age of 12 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also participating in the course; we cannot in any event accept children less than 10 years old.  Juniors between 12 and 16 must have a parent or guardian present on the field during the lessons but not necessarily participating in the course. Once a member of the club, a parent or guardian (or a responsible adult representing the parent or guardian) must be present at all times when shooting until the archer reaches 16.
